Story:
as a little citizen in your NEIGHBORHOOD, you see a lot of people throwing waste on the ground. At first you pick it up to be exemplary but after a while you know that there is only one way to stop the POLLUTION: Speak up!

mechanic: Pick up the waste dodge and speak up!

Process

This was the first game we ever had to make using the Unity Engine. First we chose an old Atari Game on which we should’ve built a mechanic considering a socially critical theme. My retro game choice was Q*Bert and my socially critical theme: pollution.

I thought about the mechanic from Q*Bert and really tried to implement it into my idea for the game but I think I had to slow myself down a little.

My programming skills were not that good and therefore my possibilities limited. At the end I made a mechanic where an enemy walks along a path and drops some waste. The player needs to dodge and also pick up the waste. With picking up waste he fills his “courage” to speak to the enemy. The enemy needs to be convinced to stop dropping waste (lightbulbs).Every time the player convinces an enemy, the enemy follows the player in the next level. The idea was to make the enemy pick up waste to but this was one of the things that were compromised.I was very happy with the outcome of my first game. I uploaded a prototype on itch.io where you can download it and play it.
